Example 5 day itinerary:
Day 1: Reception at the airport by one of our bilingual guides. Private transportation for the 90km ride to the jungle town of Nauta, (Your guide accompanies you roundtrip). Along the route you have opportunities to visit:
- the Quistococha Lake Complex that includes an establish zoo, aquarium, serpentarium, and medicinal plant garden.
- the Quistococha lake with white sand beaches and canoes for rent.
- The Itaya River bridge: you can stop there to have a beatiful view
from the Itaya river.
- Nauta City which is the oldest city of the peruvian
amazon, ever older than Iquitos. You can stop at the main square and take a
brief walk.
From Nauta our speedboat takes you on a 20-minute ride to the Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge (PSAL). Reception at the lodge. In the afternoon, walk along primary rainforest trails that surround the lodge to appreciate flora and fauna of the region. Depending on the weather conditions, we will observe a beautiful sunset from our maloca. Dinner an briefing about the activities of the next day (questions and answers, talk about the culture, flora and fauna of the Amazon). Night at PSAL.
Day 2: Pacaya - Samiria National Reserve:
Jungle wild dawn. Birdwatching. Breakfast. Departure to the Pacaya - Samiria National Reserve. Boat excursion to Nauta Creek and the surrounding lakes (cochas). Chance to observe flora and fauna (monkeys, sloths and wide variety of aquatic birds). Lunch (box lunch). Swimming. Fishing. Exploration of seasonally flooded forest (flat lands flooded each year by the seasonal rainfall). Return to lodge. Dinner. Night at the PSAL.
Day 3: Pacaya - Samiria National Reserve:
Early morning breakfast. Departure to the Pacaya - Samiria National Reserve. Boat trip down the Yanayacu River. Chance to observe gray and pink dolphins, acquatic birds, river turttles, sloths, monkeys, parrots and macaws. Box lunch. Arrival at camping site. Afternoon and night excursions. Caiman sightseing. Sound of the jungle. Dinner. Night at camping sites in tents.
Day 4: Pacaya - Samiria National Reserve:
Breakfast. In the morning, riverside village visit to learn about local people way of life. Lunch. Return to the Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge. Night at the PSAL.
Day 5: Lodge - Iquitos:
Breakfast. Morning relax. Lunch. Departure to the town of Nauta. Private transport to Iquitos. Transfer to the airport at time to board your flight.
