The Pacaya - Samiria National Reserve has a great and unique variety of flora and fauna, and is also known as the "Jungle of the Mirrors" due to the fact that the jungle and the sky are reflected so clearly in the dark waters of the rivers and lakes, that the visitors have the sensation of navigating throughout endless mirrors of water.
With 2,800,000 hectares of land protected by the Peruvian state this reserve is one of the most important ecological reserve areas of Peru.

Daily flights are available from Lima to Iquitos.
To reach the Pacaya Samiria Lodge we travel from Iquitos by private bus, or car, along the new Iquitos-Nauta road about 90Km. (1.15-hours). Along the way we will be able to appreciate different landscapes and the "Colonos" way of live in the zone.

Once in Nauta, first city founded by the Spaniards on the shores of the Marañón River, we embarked aboard our boats, with canvas roof and quilted seats, for our river-ride to the lodge.

A 30-minute boat ride up the Marañón River brings us to the confluence of the Marañón and Ucayali Rivers, the birth of the Amazon River. A stop here allows a view from a 100-foot high tower to take spectacular photos and videos.
We then continue on the waters of the Marañon river to the Lodge where the lunch and refreshments are waiting.
