A fun day out for any one looking for an alternative adventure to a beautiful section of the Urubamba river. Rafting is a fun sport, suitable for pretty much any one- no experience is needed to take part in the great day out.

Family Raft Adventure

The section we run is usually the class 3-4 Chuquicahauna section, above Cusco where the river is cleaner and more fun. It takes one and a half hours to drive to the river. On arrival we will inflate the rafts and following a full safety briefing and instruction in the art of Whitewater rafting, we set off for approx two hours of fun whitewater rafting. The river starts gently with time to practice the manoeuvres required, then builds up with more fun rapids through a beautiful canyon where we will hopefully see torrents ducks and views of the surrounding peaks. After approximately two hours of rafting, we reach our take out point and enjoy a full picnic lunch before returning to Cusco mid to late afternoon.

USD 83 per person based on 4 people participating.

Included: pick-up and drop-off in private transport from the Hotel of your choice in Cusco, all rafting equipment including state-of-the-art rafts, wetsuits, Americas Cup's life jackets, splash jackets, helmets, first aid kit, dry box for cameras, snacks on the river, English speaking swift water rescue and wilderness first aid trained river guides, safety kayaker and picnic lunch. We will phone you at your hotel the day prior to trip departure to confirm departure time.

Equipment to bring: Towel, shorts/ Swimming suit, T-shirt or thermal top, trainers or Tevas that will get wet, sun hat, sun tan lotion, string for glasses, cameras Any gear not used on the rafting trip (+ any non- rafting passengers) will travel in the bus and meet the clients at the end of the trip where lunch will be served.

This rafting section runs from April through to November. After that it becomes a much more serious class V river which we only offer to experienced rafters.

At all times we reserve the right to offer an alternative section if we consider the conditions are too dangerous to safely run this section. We can also run a section known as Cusipata which is generally safer and easier and is ideal for family groups. The youngest age we will take is twelve years old, there is no older limit.
